Once your Performing Arts – Expression of Interest is recieved you will recieve an Audition Pack that includes all requirements in detail. Further information is provided below.

To be considered for a place at Southern Cross Catholic College, those applying for entry into the Performing Arts specialist stream are required to attend an audition and interview.

Audition Information

Students are required to attend a Performing Arts Audition on-site as part of the enrolment process. Students may select one performance discipline for their Audition. The disciplines we offer are Dance (Classical or Contemporary), Drama, Music – Instrumental (Classical or Contemporary), Music – Voice (Classical or Contemporary and Music Theatre (Singing, Dancing and Acting).

Students will also be required to register their interest in the discipline they have selected for their audition by completing the following online Audition Form.

All applicants will be required to submit a written response to given questions on the day of the auditions.

Students are required to submit their resume and headshot with their auditions.

For the Auditions, applicants will be required to perform two contrasting pieces or excerpts of up to three minutes each covering one or two of their chosen streams in:

  • Dance – two contrasting performances extending a given motif
  • Drama – one set monologue and one own choice
  • Music Instrumental – two contrasting pieces
  • Music Voice – two contrasting pieces, one unaccompanied
  • Music Theatre – perform in all areas of singing, dancing or acting, using set pieces and an own choice

Applicants will take part in a performing arts workshop classes and panel interviews on the day.

Students are to wear comfortable clothing or school uniform for Drama and Music auditions. Students participating in Dance auditions are to wear appropriate dance attire and bring ballet, tap or jazz shoes if applicable.

Successful applicants will be invited to complete an enrolment interview. This will be an opportunity for the panel to clarify information provided in the resume, to answer any questions the student may have, and to decide on a pattern of study.
